Oakleigh is located between Haughton Road and Jones Street, with station access from both via the station's underpass.
The station consists of an island layout and a side platform; Platform 1 and 2 (island platform) has a large red brick building housing an enclosed waiting area, ticket facilities and toilets, while platform 3 has a smaller red brick building, and is not used normally unless there is a disruption on platform 1. myki ticket vending machines, replacing the earlier Metcard machines, are located at the station, and are able to top up cards as well as dispense new cards.
